Here at The Prairie Dog, we take pride in the quality of each and every hot dog and hand crafted sandwich. We use the freshest ingredients sourced from local suppliers and ranchers to provide our customers with an all-around Black Hills experience at our mobile food kitchen. We also invested painstaking hours perfecting the appropriate combination of homemade toppings for our hot dogs and sandwiches that’ll give you a “flavor” journey with every bite. In addition, our homemade side dishes and sweet endings are uniquely complementary. And starting in July 2022, we will be serving local craft beer. Come join us for LUNCH or DINNER on our plush lawn in open air or under one of our outdoor gazebos.

Conceived as a funny joke between two brothers and their best friend, The Prairie Dog is Custer, South Dakota's spot to stop for the best hotdog you will eat this side of the Black Hills!

Our vision was to serve a top-quality hot dog using the freshest ingredients in an unparalleled and exciting way. From our "Miner's Mischief" to our "Tatanka Dog", you will find a new way to experience an All-American favorite.
